PATRICIA MEJIA
“LA VIDA NO ES MÁS QUE LOS PASOS QUE DAMOS”
For Patricia Mejía, transformation has always been a natural way of creating. Since childhood, she understood that a garment could have many lives: a First Communion dress could become one of her sisters’ wedding gowns, or a pair of her older brother’s pants could be transformed into an overall made just for her. Without knowing it, that is where her relationship with craft, memory, and reinvention began.
Her path took shape at Escuela de Diseño Proyectual, where she studied Fashion Design and found a bridge between her creative intuition and technical knowledge. Mentors such as John Miranda and William Cruz guided a key stage in the development of her vision: a sensitive, restless perspective deeply connected to form, color, and material.
In 1992, she introduced CERVATO, her first brand, which quickly became one of the most recognized footwear labels in Colombia. Later, she paused without losing direction, dedicating three months to an immersive exploration of color, shape, and observation alongside her friend and mentor, Spanish pattern maker Paco Aguado. Together, they traveled through Europe, touching materials, reading the streets, interpreting silhouettes, and following the traces of design icons whose legacy remains timeless.
Then came Binario, a brand where Patricia expressed her irreverent essence, unlimited creativity, and her way of designing for intelligent, decisive, and authentic women.
In 2012, driven by a deep need for reinvention, her namesake brand was born: MP Patricia Mejía. Together with her daughters, Mariangel and María Belén, Patricia began building a creative house that today represents her history, her roots, and more than 25 years of experience in Colombian footwear design.
MP Patricia Mejía is born from craft, intuition, and the ability to transform the everyday into pieces with character. Each design begins with Patricia’s imagination, dreams, and lived experiences; with blank pages where sketches become shapes, lasts, materials, and timeless collections.
Today, MP Patricia Mejía honors the past while walking toward the future: an expression of Colombian design, family memory, and conscious creation, made for women who understand that every step tells a story.
